Toronto, Ontario: Toronto, ON: CANAV Books / Larry Milberry, 2008, 1st Edition, First Printing, 2008. ----------hardcover, about 9.25 x 12.25 inches, a Near Fine copy in a Near Fine dustjacket, looks quite new overall, 176 pages, b&w and colour photos, --Aviation in Canada: The Pioneer Decades is the first general interest book dedicated solely to Canada.s beginnings in flight. From an introductory balloon ascent in New Brunswick in 1840, daring "aeronauts" feel their way along at the edge of the unknown. They have no idea where their fascination might lead, but destiny takes them to Baddeck, Nova Scotia where, on February 23, 1909, J.A.D. McCurdy fulfills a dream. He takes a flimsy little Silver Dart into the air on Canada.s first powered airplane flight. Aeronautically, the century following Baddeck will be Canada.s. In the slipstream of the Silver Dart, Canadians coast-to-coast are introduced to the airplane, mainlin at fairs and exhibitions. Then thousands go on to flight and die in World War I the first great aerial conflict. Three are awarded the Victoria Cross. In 1918 they come home, many looking for new frontiers. In the coming years they continue to excel in flight. Aviation in Canada: The Pioneer Decades covers all the basics of these exciting, little-known decades. Complimenting the book.s in-depth text is the best gallery of photographs ever published on the topic. Here is a book to captivate anyone with an interest in Canada.s incredible flying heritage., any image directly beside this listing is the actual book and not a generic photo. First Edition. Hard Cover. Near Fine (see description)/Near Fine (see description). Illus. by Photo Cover.

Description:
New York:: Putnam,, 1996.. First Printing of the First Edition. A Fine copy in a Fine unclipped dust jacket. Inscribed by astronaut Mitchell on the half-title page. Apollo 14 astronaut Mitchell offers a vision in which technology and intuition are harmonized in pursuit of a more advanced consciousness. When Mitchell was hurtling back to earth after walking on the moon in 1971, he had a profound sense that all things are interconnected and that the universe is an intelligent process with which we need to link up. We hear how Mitchell began a career as a fighter pilot in the years following WW II, switched to NASA with the hope of being part of the new space program, and came to know the legendary Wernher von Braun, whom he believes was a true visionary rather than a Nazi opportunist. Mitchell tells how, while returning to earth, he carried out a private ESP experiment that seemed to yield positive results. Subsequently, he founded the Institute of Noetic Sciences, in order to test paranormal phenomena…

Croydon: The London Electric Firm, 1920. Softcover. Near Fine. Oblong quarto. Measuring 10" x 12". [38]pp. Cord tied printed flexible card wrappers. Light stains on the wrappers, one leaf has pulled loose, else near fine. Trade catalog for nautical, ground, and aviation searchlights. On the rectos of each leaf is a large photograph in color of a searchlight (on a few pages two photographs appear; one photo is uncolored) with a printed description of the searchlight on the facing page. Colorful and engaging. Rare. *OCLC* locates a single copy at the Henry Ford Museum, that is almost certainly the same or similar to this with 19 pages (we assume they mean leaves) and attributes the date of 1920. Although this copy is undated that seems a reasonable guess.
