About This Item

Austin: Eakin Press, 1998. Paperback. 4to. Stiff glazed pictorial wrappers. 95pp. Numerous illustrations, decorative endpapers. Fine. A tight and pristine first edition of this survey of the sculptor's life and work by his granddaughter, who boldly signs and inscribes the title page in black fineline: "To Lily -- / How fun that / the Borglum-Tolpo / connection started so long / ago will continue on! / Robin Borglum Carter / August 1998." Lily Tolpo (1917-2016) was a noted sculptor herself and wife of noted sculptor and painter Carl Tolpo (1901-76), a friend of Gutzon Borglum.
