All the high expectations raised by the first movements of the Army of the Ohio have been disappointed, and Gen. Buell’s second campaign against Bragg has proved a more lamentable failure than his first. ...”The Harper’s Ferry Surrender “The evidence in the matter of the surrender of Harper’s Ferry has all been taken and the Commission has adjourned till next week. The record will be made up after two or three more sessions.” The Case of Big.-Gen. Martindale; Hooker Going Into the Field Again; State of Affairs in Kentucky and many others are additional stories.“Recognition by England will not of itself add a feather’s weight to the material and moral aid and comfort which the Rebels are do-day receiving from Great Britain. It will only be a rechristening of the Rebels as belligerents, a character from which they already draw numerous great advantages. The blockade must still be respected, even by those who give treason the seal of nationality. ...”.

Quite mild age toning and bit of wear and light soiling along original folds; minor edge curling and very small edge tears. Black mourning borders. Lincoln assassination coverage dominates the front page news of this daily, with the leftmost of the six columns featuring a bold (for that day) headline: "OUR LOSS. / A Day of Fasting and Prayer. / The president's Assassin. / Further Rewards Offered," and so on. Despite mild wear, quite attractive and displayable.
