London - James Hogg and Sons, 1862 Gilt embossed cloth binding with plates by HK Browne and engraved by the Dalziel brothers including frontispiece ! Contains history to various people and places including William Congreve, Beau Nash, Philip Wharton, Philip Dormer Stanhope and others. The authors, Grace and Philip Wharton, are the pseudonyms of Katherine (Byerley) Thomson (1792-1862) and John Cockburn Thomson (1834-1860). Condition: The binding is tight and firm and both covers are firmly attached. There is some wear to the extremities including some partial loss to the top and bottom of the spine, and some slight fading to the spine. Internally the book is clean and bright throughout apart from the odd handling mark.. Hardcover. Very Good.
