1970. Lettre. Très bon. Couverture souple. Signé par l'auteur. Ed. originale. Paris, 9 octobre 1970 et 7 décembre 1970. 1 et 2 pp. in-8, 8 et 14 lignes sur papier à en-tête de la NRF. Dans la première lettre il annonce son enthousiasme à Maurel à propos de ses textes : "Cela me semble très bien, et remarquable [souligné] (mot usé, mais ramenons-le à l'origine). Je redonne, appuyé chaud, ton, tes textes au Comité et en parle à Lambrichs)." Dans la seconde lettre, il fait part de sa déception que ces textes n'aient pas été retenus : "Je n'ai appris que par toi la décision finale de Lambrichs et du Comité. Je ne suis pas content, mais pas surpris : Lambrichs était assez réticent après sa lecture. Mais as-tu autre chose en train ?" Il dit ensuite ne pas pouvoir le voir car il est "coincé par les répétitions de Tom Paine de Paul Foster que j'ai adapté pour le TNP - et le livre que j'écris en même temps ! Ne m'en veux pas d'être si évasif [souligné]." Deux des textes de Maurel refusés par Gallimard seront finalement publiés en 1971 par Robert Laffont. Claude Roy fut membre du comité de lecture de Gallimard de 1965 à sa mort..

, . 5 1/8" x 6 3/4" signed letter from Robert Dale Owen (1801-1877) dated May 5, 1865 at Cincinnati and addressed to publishers Mssrs. Tickner & Fields, acknowledging receipt of $50 as payment for his article on Hofwyl appearing in Atlantic Magazine that month, a fond history of his years at Hofwyl school, the independent self-governing private college in Switzerland to which Owen credited the molding of much of his character and philosophy. In addition to his notorious involvement with social reforms, Robert Dale Owen served in the Indiana legislature and the U.S. House Of Representatives (1843 to 1847), where he introduced and secured passage of the bill to establish the Smithsonian Institution, for which he was appointed to its first board of regents.
