About This Item

Richmond: B.B. Minor, 1844. Softcover. Good. A good copy of the complete number, trimmed, without wrapper. Most text pages are clean, with some scattered stains and foxing. A nice representative sampling of stories, poems, and critical reviews. The *Southern Literary Messenger*, published in Richmond, Virginia, from 1834 - 1864, was the most important periodical published in the South. Edgar Allan Poe served as editor from December 1835 until January 1837, and remained a regular contributor until his death.
