Description:
1597 Poetry of Oppian Greco-Roman FISHING & Hunting Commodus Greek Plantin RAREOppian of Anazarbus, or simply Oppian, was a 2nd-century Greek poet who is only remembered for his Greek poems on fishing and hunting. Of his surviving works, his poem on fishing (De piscatu) is his most important, much in part because it was dedicated to Marcus Aurelius and Commodus.
This 1597 edition of the poems of Oppian includes two major poems - the expected poem on fishing and the other on hunting. However, it should be noted that the Oppian named as the author of the hunting poem is Oppian of Syria. According to scholars, Oppian of Syria was familiar with the hunting poem of Oppian of Anazarbus and wrote his poem as a supplement to the former.
Regardless of the authorship, this late 16th-century work is a fascinating and desirable piece on Ancient Roman leisure activities and outdoors sport. Edited and translated with commentary by Konrad Rittershausen, this printing features both Latin and Greek texts in… Read More

This is copy #53 of only 75 copies, comprised of 30 prints struck on only one side, and 26 of those 30 are copies from the artists themselves. A matched, full, collated-as-complete set. Each is signed by the woman artist and then numbered. Barbara Parsons' Introduction says that "[m]any of the artists accepted the challenge of the broadside as an opportunity for dynamic experimentation with image and text; others illustrated more conventionally. It is not always easy to steer a clear course with so many hands grabbing for the tiller, but Taking Flight proves that ancient axiom: The whole is greater than the sum of its parts." Description:
1880 Geoffrey CHAUCER Poems Canterbury Tales Assembly of Foules Aldine Poets 6v"If gold rusts, what then can iron do?"
― Geoffrey Chaucer, The Canterbury Tales
'The Canterbury Tales' is one of the most famous pieces of early English literature, written during the end of the 14th-century. Written by Geoffrey Chaucer, this book is a collection of short stories told from the perspective of traveling pilgrims on their way to Canterbury from London. Chaucer paints an accurate portrayal of English society during the time, as well as customs and social practices.
This late 19th-century printing of the poems of Chaucer includes, of course, 'Canterbury Tales', but also features works such as 'Cuckow and Nightgale', 'Assembly of Foules', and other lesser-known poems. This set from the 'Aldine Edition of the British Poets' was collected and edited by Richard Morris, supplemented with a memoir by Harris Nicolas.

Trumansburg, NY: Out of Step Press. Fine with no dust jacket. 2016. Numbered Edition; First Printing. Pamphlet. The author's non-linear poem about the billeting of soldiers in civilian homes in wartime. Copy 89 of a limited edition of 250. Folded into the form of a letter, the work was letterpress printed in wraps of handmade "combat paper" made from military uniforms. The author says: "Some time ago-maybe a year, maybe two? I had a conversation with some of my Combat Paper brothers (well, the kids call them their combat paper uncles, so it follows
) that led to me writing the poem "Quartering." Which was informed by them, of course, and by all the rooms I'm in, and by imagining what is really required of all the caregivers I love. It's a thought experiment: if we tore down the barracks at military hospitals and offered incentives for Americans in the surrounding neighborhoods to quarter injured service members, what would the honest instructions…
