The title page (made of thinner and cheaper paper than the rest of the book) has been tipped in (by the original binder - the two books were originally to be published in separate volumes, and the title page had to be altered and replaced when it was decided to bind them as one.) The binding is good, but there is considerable rubbing to the edges and corners of the boards, and some fading. Front endpaper missing. Archival tape repair to top edge of Frontispiece" Illustrated in black-and-white .
