Boards have moderate shelf-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Slight crushing to spine ends with splits to spine ends causing cloth to be frayed. Water marking to spine. Wear marks overall.

Mild brown staining to pages on occasion. Notable foxing and tanning to endpapers and page edges. Some gutter cracking. Paper remnants and tape residue to rear paste down. Mild wear and bumping to spine, board edges and corners, with splitting and chipping to spine ends. Notable sunning to spine, with scuffing and marking to boards.

Boards have moderate edge-wear with bumping to corners and rubbing to surfaces. Mild crushing to spine ends. Book has a slight forward lean. Gilt lettering is darkened.

Some additional marks and staining to surfaces.

Contains black and white and colour illustrations. Clean pages and illustrations with light tanning and mild foxing throughout. Top textblock edge dyed red. Heavy water and red staining to top and fore edges textblock. Binding remains firm. Boards have mild edge-wear with slight rubbing to surfaces and bumping to corners. Lettering is bright and clear. Clipped jacket. Panels and spine have light edgewear with tears and creases. Minor loss to spine and edges. Visible wear marks to spine and panels.

Ward Lock, 1962. Hardcover. Good/Acceptable. 1962. 832 pages. Brown pictorial dust jacket over orange pictorial cloth. Pages are lightly tanned and thumbed at the edges, with light foxing. Binding has remained firm. Boards are a little rub worn, slight shelf wear to corners, spine and edges. Corners are a little bumped. Spine ends are mildly crushed. Light tanning to spine and edges. Light wear to unclipped dust jacket with tears, nicks and creases to spine, edge and corners.

Ward, Lock & Co Ltd 1966. SPINE COMPLETELY CRACKED AT REAR HINGE, PENCIL WRITING TO REAR EP, super octavo, hardcover (VG-) in d/w (TATTY); all our specials have minimal description to keep listing them viable. They are at least reading copies, complete and in reasonable condition, but usually secondhand; frequently they are superior examples. Ordering more than one book will reduce your overall postage costs.

London: Ward, Lock and Co, 1907. Spine and hinges heavily cracked and chipped. Boards rubbed with stains. Newspaper cuttings and clippings adhered to front endpapers and last index page. Foxed throughout, gutters cracked, shaken, owner details to recto of frontis, text and plates clean.. Quarter Leather. Poor. 8vo Thick.

Ward, Lock and Co, 1912. Blue leather decorated spine lightly sunned and rubbed. Looks like it has been recased or rebound at some point with perhaps newer grey boards and reinforcing tape to front and rear gutters which are cracked, light foxing to closed edges, presentation plate and later inscription to recto of frontis, pages clean and tidy, plates bright.. Quarter Leather. Good. 8vo Thick.
