New York; (1897-1932): Charles Scribner's Sons. FIRST COLLECTED EDITION. Octavo. "The Outward Edition" limited to only 204 copies signed by Kipling, printed on Japan vellum. This is considered the first edition of this set as it was later reprinted at least six times or more in the years 1898, 1899, 1905 through to 1926. 34 volumes signed by Kipling in volume #34. The first eleven volumes were printed by the The De Vinne Press The later volumes were printed by Scribner Press issued individually shortly after their respective trade appearances throughout Kipling's career. In both the first editions and the reprinting, volumes in this set differ widely from the arrangement and illustrations of the Trade and Uniform editions. The present set is beautifully bound by Stikeman & Co. for Charles Scribner's Sons in a rich 3/4 navy blue crushed morocco over light blue cloth, three raised bands with compartments lettered and decorated in gilt, marbled endpapers, top edges gilt. Volume number one contains a special preface and introduction not included in any previous edition and two stories not previously collected but included in the serial publication "Bitters Neat". Included within volumes 6, 13, 14, 17, and 20 are first editions of a variety of stories. Volume 20 also includes the first appearance in book form of "The Tabu Tale" which was first printed in the Windsor Magazine. From the library of esteemed Bishop Garfield Bromley Oxnam. A excellent set. [Stewart, p. 560].

New York: G.P. Putnam's Sons / The Knickerbocker Press, 1927. Half-Leather. Very Good/No Jacket. Corners a bit rubbed, boards faintly soiled, ink date and owner bookplate of Robert N. Cherry on front flyleaf. 1927 Half-Leather. iv, 325 pp. 8vo. No binder's ticket, but appears to be a contemporary custom rebinding: blue leather spine and corners over blue cloth, gilt titles and rules, top edge gilt, new end sheets. "The Autobiography of Benjamin Franklin is the traditional name for the unfinished record of his own life written by Benjamin Franklin from 1771 to 1790; however, Franklin himself appears to have called the work his Memoirs. Although it had a tortuous publication history after Franklin's death, this work has become one of the most famous and influential examples of an autobiography ever written. Franklin's account of his life is divided into four parts, reflecting the different periods at which he wrote them.
