Dark red coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the spine. Very minor bumping to the head and to the heel of the spine and minor shelfwear to the lower book edges. A little browning and, marking to the paper edges. Plain text dust wrapper with a gold and black coloured background with red, yellow and pale orange coloured titles to the front panel and red and black coloured titles to the back strip. The white of the dust wrapper has become dull and slightly grubby and there is crinkling and the occasional chip to the top and bottom dust wrapper edge. Translated from the Italian by Raymond Rosenthal. A critical look at the white expansion into America and at what cost to the native people. Then the author examines the rationale and reasons for this " civilisation " of the native people and examines the ideological roots of the rationale. This is the First USA Edition.
