Rapid City, South Dakota; San Francisco: Lakota Coalition, 1973. 4p., mimeographed pink sheets stapled together at upper left corner, very good. The second item is six pages, similar format, mimeographed on white paper. Bulletin 1 reports on events in the week since the March 11 meeting of tribal chiefs with American Indian Movement leaders that led to the declaration of Oglala independence at Wounded Knee. Seeks donations for legal expenses, food, medicine, and other supplies to be sent to the Wounded Knee Aid Center care of Glide Church in San Francisco. The second packet is produced by the Wounded Knee Aid Center in San Francisco, and includes a somewhat smudgy reprint of the March 23 Bulletin #2, together with cover sheets giving updates from March 26 (government surrounded Wounded Knee and prevented the movement of goods or people, according to Dennis Hastings of the Wounded Knee War Department), and a top sheet indicating that a judge had ordered six carloads of food per day to be allowed into the town.
