Half leather and red cloth-covered boards, all edges gilt, marbled end papers. Condition notes: Binding firm, sound and very attractive, although leather is somewhat worn at corners and edges. Some foxing to prelims and title page of all three volumes. Frontis of Volume 2 over-trimmed, losing last line of caption. Cloth lifting a little to front of Volume 1.

Spine with 6 compartment of raised bands, gilt lettering on two. All edges gilt. Marbled paste down and free end papers., Notes: Charles Knight the prominent 19th century English author and publisher printed many literay works. Among them “The Works of William Shakspere” first published in weekly volumes from 1838-1841.
