Top edge gilt, grey endpapers with inner dentelles, 6 hand colored wood engravings. Unfortunately this book has been damp on the bottom edge and corner with the resulting dampstaining to the pages and affecting the illustrations, tears in the leather at top and bottom of the spine. Woodcut title vignettes (printer's device?), initials, and endpiece. Edited by Johann Erhard Kapp. Inscription in an old hand on one page of first part, and marginal notation on p. 110 of second part in same hand. Occasional mark in light blue or red pencil. In Near Fine Condition: vellum is slightly rubbed; marginalia, as described; otherwise clean and tight.

Spines with raised bands, gilt decoration, rules and lettering. Cloth on boards. Marbled endpapers. Top edges gilt, others untrimmed. Very light fading to the spines but still overall a very attractive set.:

Both hinges recently repaired and new red title label, ruled and lettered in gilt, to spine. Board edges rubbed and bumped. Previous owners names, dated 1760, on front paste down endpaper. Overall a very good book in a presentable early binding.:

Tan morocco title label with gilt, lettering, ruling and leaves. Smaller label has "Oxford" within gilt ruling. Beige cloth on boards. Top edge gilt. Previous owners five line inscription from1919, written neatly in ink on front free endpaper. .A very good, bright copy.

Paris: F. Bechet and A. Egron, 1817. First Edition First Printing . Hardcover. Very Good. 8vo - over 7¾ - 9¾" tall. Octavos. xxx, 403, [2]; 394, [2] pages. Hardcovers bound in dark green half leather with marbled paper-covered boards. The bindings show some wear but are quite sound with sturdy hinges. The rear hinge on Volume 1 is scuffed with the untreated leather exposed. There is a white scuff mark on the front cover of Volume 1 at the bottom left corner. Bindings tight. Marbled endpapers. The text is a little toned and has some occasional foxing, but overall the text appears clean. Half title to Volume 1 appears to be a little loose. SIGNED Bechet (one of the publishers) on the verso of the title page to authenticate this edition as not being a pirated edition. Text is in French. A translation of the title into English is, "The Colonies and the Present Revolution of America.
