Has the inevitable discolouration, and a few stains, but the colours are still bright. On rear leaf there is a motif of two bulldogs trying to tear the book apart, with logo "Dean's Rag Books. Quite Indestructible". Despite its blemishes, very true. An unusual item.:

Small area of loss to the bottom corner of one page and a few pages with tears into the margins, without any loss to the page. Overall a very good clean copy which has recently been finely bound in leather. Full blue morocco, spine with raised bands, ruled and lettered in gilt. Boards with gilt ruled borders. Front board lettered in gilt. Marbled endpapers. All edges gilt. Overall a very good, attractively bound copy.:

Boots the Chemist. ND.,(1927). NEW EDITION. 4to (10.1 x 8.1 inches). Sixteen full colour plates, mounted within a black ruled border. Each plate with the title printed below the border. 95 line illustrations throughout, some full page. Previous owners neat name on front blank endpaper otherwise a fine copy in original burgundy cloth with gilt illustrations and lettering to front board and spine. Front board with quadruple ruled black borders, spine ruled in gilt. In the scarce original publshers dustwrapper with colour illustration mounted onto the front panel, below black lettering and four line border. Flaps and other panels lettered in black. Original printed price (15/-) on spine has been blacked out neatly. Aside from a couple of tiny chips to the wrapper this is a beautiful fine example of this well produced edition. Scarce in this condition.:

Macmillan & Co. New York. 1889. New edition. 12mo. (7.5 x 5.2 inches). xii, 192, 12 pp publishers catalogue. Also an extra gathering bound in so that pages 117 to 124 appear twice. One gathering slightly sprung. Publishers dark green cloth with gilt and black decorative band across the top of the front board and the top and bottom of the spine. Black decorative roll to the bottom of the front board. Title on gilt to the middle of the front board. Spine lettered and decorated in gilt. Rear board with blind stamped floral roll to the top and bottom. Floral decorative endpapers. Neat two line inscription to the front free endpaper. The rear endpapers have an early previous owner's name and address written in red crayon to the free endpaper and a few short lines to the pastedown. Illustrated with 12 full page colour plates and line drawings around the text pages opposite each plate, plus illustrated title page, all by Anderson. A little browning to the blank endpapers and a neat previous owner name on the front free endpaper, otherwise a very good, clean copy in the publishers grey cloth covered boards. Full colour illustrated onlay to the front board and green line border, decoration and lettering. Blue cloth spine lettered in dark blue. Aside from some darkening to the plain spine and minor rubbing to the extremities this is a very good copy. The book is undated but the British Library catalogue gives the publication date as 1915.

Illustrated with a colour frontis and forty nine full colour plates, all mounted onto thick art paper pages at back of book, each one with a printed tissue guard. Decorative endpapers with map of Kensington Gardens. A near fine, bright and clean copy throughout in original russet cloth binding with gilt stamped decoration and lettering to front board and spine. Very minor rubbing to hinges and a small bump to the lower front board at the outer corner, but overall a beautiful clean copy of this classic. Among the very best of Rackham's work.

Collins. London. 1959. PROOF COPY OF FIRST EDITION. 8vo. (7.9 x 5.5 inches). Illustrated throughout with charming line drawings by Judith Brook, including both sets of endpapers. A very good clean copy in publishers blue marbled paper wraps. In the original full colour illustrated dustwrapper, designed by Selma Nankivell, featuring illustrated adverts for the first two of Michael Bond's Paddington Bear titles on the rear cover. A crease to the lower rear panel and a little rubbing and chipping to the extremities but overall a very good book in a very good dustwrapper. A scarce item.
