Some minor foxing to the fore edge but not affecting the open pages. A fine copy in publishers decorative blue cloth boards which are fully illustrated and lettered in black, yellow, white and light blus to fropnt board and spine. Rear board with smaller illustration and lettering in black and white.Some minor white spotting to the lower board at very bottom and on lower half of the hinge. In the rare original dustwrapper which reproduces the boards and spine in black on blue paper. One small piece (0.5 x 0.4 inch) missing from the top of the spine, not affecting the lettering,and strengthened with archive tape to the reverse of the top of spine but overall in superb condition. Children's books of this vintage are uncommon in any dustwrapper but to find one in such good condition is rare indeed.:

Frederick Warne & Co. London.,1906. FIRST EDITION. 6mo. (6 x 3.9 inches). 86pp. Wonderful colour illustrations throughout, some full page. Decorative endpapers printed in colour. A fine and bright copy in publishers grey/green paper covered boards with a colour onlay to the front panel, above a simple ruled design. Clogs and Arrow-joined hearts within the lines and both the spine and front panel are lettered, all in white. Fine. A rare suvivor in such wonderful condition.:

Illustrated with 8 fine full colour plates plus 18 black and white line illustrations throughout the text. A very good, bright and clean copy. Publishers beige boards with colour plate mounted to front panel. Beige cloth spine lettered in dark brown. In the rare original colour printed dustwrapper. Aside from some minor bumping to the corners of the boards and a few small chips to edges of the dustwrapper (the worst chip, at the bottom of the spine, just shaves off the top of the J in the title) this is a lovely copy of this scarce title.

Macmillan & Co. New York. 1883 & 87. TWO VOLUMES. 8vo. First volume illustrated with line engravings by Arthur Hughes and Sydney Prior Hall. The second book illustrated solely by Hall. Early American editions. Both Volumes are very good clean copies in contemporary leather bindings of half black calf, raised bands, extra gilt. Marbled paper on boards and endpapers. All edges marbled. Some rubbing to extremities but still an attractive early bound pair.

Thomas Nelson and Sons Ltd. London. 1938. Reprint of the Wiese illustrated edition. 8vo. (8 x 5.8 inches). Three full page colour plates and scores of smaller line drawings in the text. A few of these line drawings have been neatly coloured using watercolour on 8 pages, but it is well done and doesn't detract from the book. Bound in recent half dark blue morocco. Spine with raised bands, each with gilt piping. Compartments ruled, lettered and decorated in gilt. Marbled paper on boards. Top edge gilt. Marbled endpapers.

Macmillan and Co, Limited. London.,1906. FIRST EDITION. Twenty line drawings by Millar. Finely bound in recent full red morocco, raised bands, gilt. Single gilt ruled border on boards. Top edge gilt. Lovely copy.:

George Routledge and Sons. Ltd. London. ND.,c.1883. 8vo. (7.3 x 5 inches). Beautifully illustrated with 8 full page colour printed plates engraved by Dalziel, each with a tissue guard. A very good copy in an attractive early binding of full burgundy calf. Spine with raised bands, each with gilt wavy line decoration. Compartments double ruled and fully decorated in gilt. Double ruled gilt borders to both boards. Marbled endpapers. All edges marbled. Gilt stamped school arms on the front board. The binding is unsigned but is certainly the work of a master bindery. A lovely copy on a fine early leather binding. The book is not dated but a search of Copac shows a copy of this same edition in the Cambridge University Library where they have dated its publication to 1883.:

(4.6 x 3.6 inches). 8pp, plus publishers green wraps, printed in black to the front panel with title, publisher and woodcut illustration. Unsewn but with the later addition of a pin to keep it all together. Each page with one or two, a total of ten, woodcuts and text printed below. A few creases to the page edges but overall a very good example of this rare edition. ---- No copy of this edition listed on Worldcat or Copac. ---- Fairburn was located at this address from 1820 to 1842.- P.A.H. Brown. London publishers and printers. p. 65. ---- The Osborne collection in Toronto has a similar edition, dated 1820 and published by Fairburn, that it records as being illustrated by Smeeton.

Hodder & Stoughton. London. No date. (1924). NEW EDITION. Small 4to. (9.6 x 6.7 inches). Fully illustrated throughout with 16 tipped in colour plates, pictorial title page, plus 25 full page and 100 smaller line drawings. A hint of browning to the blank endpapers but generally a very clean and bright copy in the original publishers yellow cloth binding with illustration to the front board in red and black. The spine and front board are lettered in black. A little darkening to spine but overall a better than very good copy of this beautiful book. --- Originally published by Constable and Co in 1912, this is the first Hodder and Stoughton edition and it contains all of the illustrations from the earlier edition. Folding Books ltd, London, in association with Country Life. 1947. FIRST EDITION. (5.4 X 4.8 Inches). Folds out showing four scenes, spring, summer, autumn, winter. Each scene with 3 separate layered illustrations, behind a pink front panel with text in a white panel along the bottom of the pages. The whole opening out to a beautifully illustrated square of country scenes, featuring Orlando and her friend Grace. Pink silk ties, the lower missing half of the length. Outer boards with colour illustration to front and publishers advert on rear. Patterned cloth spine. The boards are a little rubbed and knocked to edges but overall a very good, complete copy of this scarce Orlando title with all of the illustrations in bright and fine condition.
