About This Item

Text is clean and unmarked in intact covers displaying very light shelf wear. A printed list of other publications "Related to the History of the United States Labor Movement" is inserted in this occasional paper. "In June 1898 Howells helped sponsor a national conference on social reform in Buffalo, New York. The gathering adopted a declaration which asserted 'militarism...expressed in our war of conquest in the Philippines...is but the offspring and incident of the greater menace of plutocracy which has established monopoly government in place of government by the people.' " p. 27.
