It is the very opposite of politics, and in practice either rejects it or is destroyed by it. The practice of self-organization seems to develop spontaneously when people rise up in revolt. What distinguishes it from politics is its opposition to representation and compromise -- not just with the ruling order, but within the self-organized movement itself.
