The full set was published under the General Editorship of William C. Steere, of the New York Botanical Garden, for the McGraw-Hill Book Company, New York, between 1967 and 1973. Small Folio format, handsomely bound in light brown buckram cloth, with unbruised tips, tight bindings, clean internals, showing only very slight shelf- and edge-wear; not ex-library, with neither underlining nor highlighting anywhere, though with previous owner's penned name at map. Little if at all used, gilt-titled spines still crackle, interiors fresh and bright. Gorgeous full-color illustrations throughout. Volume Two, both Parts being stated First Editions, is devoted to The Southeastern States; Part One of Volume Two is x + 322 pp., and Volume Two, Part Two is 323-688 pp. in length, and with a note of errata, and including a full index to Volume Two. 241 fine color plates each illustrating several species floral species. Illustrated endpapers showing the states in question: Arkansas, North Carolina, Alabama, Georgia, Florida, Louisiana, Mississippi, South Carolina and Tennessee.
