Lansdowne Press, Melbourne, 1968. First Edition. Hardcover. Good Condition/Very Good. Illustrator: Photographic. foreword by editor, acknowledgements. The text is illustrated with black and white photography of both Australian and New Zealand dogs. Blue coloured boards with gilt coloured titles to the backstrip. Illustrated dustwrapper, by Robin Hill showing various dogs, with coloured titles to the front and back panel. A series of anecdotes, stories, poetry and tales about dogs in both Australia and New Zealand. Contributors include: – C. E. W. Bean, Mary Gilmore, Henry Kendall and Henry Lawson. Softening and fading to the back strip with rubbing to the top book corners and lower book edges. Fading to the top book edges and there is a 1.25" split to the top left-hand corner of the rear back strip. Tanning of the text block edges. A previous owner has placed their ex libris plate to the top edge of the free front end page. Chipping of the dustwrapper corners and back strip corners with rubbing of both the edges and panels of the dustwrapper. There is 1/2 inch tear to the lower right-hand corner of the rear panel, with associated creasing, a similar size tear to the lower left-hand corner of the same panel and a 2 inch tear to the top right-hand corner of the same panel.
