This is a true first edition, first printing (first impression) of the one volume edition. Octavo. 373 pp. [1-16 adverts]. Original red boards, facsimile of the authors name stamped in black to front board. gilt lettering to spine, dulled. Original black end pages, Internally light spotting, generally clean, tight binding. Originally published in 2 vols by Burns & Oates 1872, all editions are exceptionally uncommon. Laid in contemporary photo of the author which is possibly signed by her. .
