About This Item

London, United Kingdom: George Allen & Unwin, 1955. Bound in the publishers black cloth with contrasting silver titles to spine. This is the first edition of this scarce Jhabvala first novel set in Delhi. All pages are present and correct with one small discreet previous owners name to the front free endpaper. Book sits solid and square with all corners sharp. Silver title lettering to spine remains sharp and definite. Housed in the exotic A. Breeze designed dustwrapper with publishers printed price intact on front inside flap. Slight loss to head and heel of spine with some chipping to corners but a presentable example nontheless. Protected in a removable archival booksleeve to preserve its condition. A very decent example of the authors scarce first novel.. First Edition. Near Fine/Good. 12mo - over 6¾" - 7¾" tall. FIRST EDITION.
