Exceptionally well-preserved extremities, contents equally without blemish with bright, clean, and unmarked pages and firm, sound binding; fine and housed in its original, unclipped, dustjacket showing one very small knick to the centre of the spine panel. Overall, very good+ to near fine. "Whether he was a martyr to his country's growth or the traitor he was branded, and why the jury's recommendation for mercy was ignored have been the unhappy questions on Canada's conscience since that November morning in 1885 when Louis Riel walked to the gallows 'with the dignity of a king'. Although one of the author's illustrious forebears appeared for the prosecution, E.B. Osler takes his stand unequivocally on the side of Riel; and every fair-minded Canadian will want to give him a hearing."
