London: The Bodley Head, 1967. A first edition, first printing published by The Bodley Head in 1967. Illustrated in colour throughout by the author. Sendak's most famous book, both as an author and as an illustrator, and one of the most influential modern picture books. Book is very good and quite bright. Light edge rubbing. Fine creasing to one corner of board. Contents good. The wrapper is good and quite bright. Edges rubbed and nicked. Small loss to spine tips and corners. Spine age toned and darkened. A few closed tears to edges. Wrapper generally quite age toned. Exceptionally rare.
Synopsis
Where the Wild Things Are is a 1963 children's picture book by American writer and illustrator Maurice Sendak, originally published by Harper & Row. The book has been adapted into other media several times, including an animated short, a 1980 opera, and, in 2009, a live-action feature film adaptation. According to HarperCollins, the book has sold over 19 million copies worldwide as of 2008.
