Boyhood reminiscences of life in 1860’s rural Louisiana and Texas as recounted by John Allen Tippit (1862-1939), school teacher, rancher, and orchardist, who was affectionately known as "Apple Jack." Tippet and his family moved West at the close of the Civil War, leaving the cotton plantations of Bianville Parish, Louisiana for the Central Texas frontier and an arduous but rewarding life on the prairie. Thirteen-page background by George B. Ward, Texas State Historical Association. Published in limited edition of 1000, of which 700 were offered for sale. Printed by David Holman at Wind River Press. Fine, in clear dust wrapper, also Fine.
