Whitcombe & Tombs, Melbourne, 1950. First Edition. Hardcover (Original Cloth). Very Good Condition/Very Good. Illustrator: George Colville. 152 pp., last two blank, acknowledgements, introduction by author. Frontispiece portrait, by George Colville, who also executed the 46 illustrations within the text. Tan coloured boards with dark brown writing on spine. Illustrated dustwrapper, showing a 19th century gentlemen looking over a factory, with a background with black writing on front panel and spine. The story of Godfrey Hirst, who left England to seek wealth in the Colony of Victoria, where he established the first woollen mill. The dustjacket has a short hair the top right of the rear panel, and rubbing on the left-hand edge of the front panel. Rubbing at the corners of the folder levels. Accidental dog earing of two pages. On the half title page there are four spots, faint, possibly from food. A rather nice copy now protected. Size: 8vo - over 7¾" - 9¾" tall. Please refer to accompanying picture (s).
