Bath, 1800 1st ed, VG, 2 pls, 11 maps. In 20c half brown calf, tips worn, blue marbled boards, edges bumped. Spine, titles and tooling in gilt. Internally, no inscriptions, hinges strengthened, text block edges marbled, lacks half title and final advert leaf, (iii-vi), 222 pp, 2 pls (B&W), 11 maps in text, 3 tail pieces, printed by R Cruttwell, Bath, text block clean and tight with only minimal browning. (ESTC T92266. Allibone 2585) Warner's early publications were prodigious, if ephemeral. Unlike his mentor, Gilpin, his interests were antiquarian rather than picturesque. He wanted fame, but also wrote for money. See ODNB.
