In four volumes. lxxix, 460pp; 587pp; 522pp; 614pp. Quarter dark green morocco over marbled boards, spines lettered in gold. Includes biographical notes about the author and an analysis of the text. Originally published in the 1780s, it is considered one of the most extensive travel narratives of the 18th century in general and of the kingdom of Naples and Sicily in particular. Some mild sporadic foxing and edge wear, previous owner's small stamp on the front free endpapers, bookdealer description in pencil on the rear pastedown endpaper of the first volume. A near fine set. Lacks the atlas volumes. Brunet V.56; Graesse VI.226.; Octavo.
