Paris: Barrois, 1780. First edition. xix, 456, [4] pp. 1 vols. 12mo. Bound in contemporary mottled calf; gilt spine, raised bands, marbled endpapers, edges red. Very slight rubbing to edges, rear over slightly scuffed. despite some light staining toward the rear of the text affecting a few gathering, this a handsome, sturdy copy. First edition. xix, 456, [4] pp. 1 vols. 12mo. Papon was the author of a standard history of Provence in 4 volumes (Histoire générale de Provence, Paris, 1777-1786). Here, Papon concentrates on the rich history of its literature and language - including that of the Trouvères and Troubadours.
