A monograph of work by Ladislav Sutnar with his commentary and theoretical ideas. The book covers every aspect of his career and of course, being a graphic designer, he was involved in every aspect of its high-quality production including the layout, illustrations, and jacket design. Sutnar was a Modernist designer and one of the visionaries of what is today called "information design." He is best known for his total design concept for the Sweets Catalog Service and lesser known for introducing the parenthesis as a way to typographically distinguish the area code from the rest of a phone number. He was hugely influential in the world of modern graphic design. Text and design by Ladislav Sutnar; production supervised by Sutnar; preface by Mildred Constantine. Unpaginated [188 pages]; 36 pages of full-page color illustrations + 342 b&w illustrations; 8.75 x 12.5 inches.
