Book One: 421 - (3) pp. Book Two: 465 - (3) pp. Tan cloth over boards with red and white lettering on the spine and the front board along with black art work on the top half of both front boards. Translated from the original Russina by Robert Daglish. No date of publication is given. (Original publication dates for the Russian editions are 1932 for Book One and 1960 for Book Two.) Black and white frontis photograph of the author in Book One only. Minor tanning to the end papers of both volumes and both have surface foxing to the text block head edges. Otherwise very clean with tight bindings and showing only light wear to the spine tips and the fore corners of the boards. The dust jackets have mild edge wear with the jacket for Book Two having moderate wear to the fore corners of the front panel. Both dust jackets have faint sticker or label ghosts on the top fore corners of the front panels. A quite handsome set. .

Both books have cocked spines, red cloth boards with soiling. BOOK ONE: B&W reproduction of a painting of tilled soil on cover design; writing on endpapers, as well as letters in ink across the entire width of the leading edges but all text pages are unmarked. Some foxing on flyleaf. DJ has tears and chips mostly at spine edges but all edges have heavy wear. BOOK TWO: B&W reproduction painting on cover of a woman with a babushkas and a man with back to viewer; same markings as Book One but it also has larger chips and tears from DJ spine and edges.
