Bruxelles: Meline Cans et Compagnie, 1843. 6 vols in 3. 12mo (6¼ x 4¼ ins). Contemporary half vellum on marbled paper-laid boards, spines gilt ruled with gilt fleurons in lower compartments, gilt lettered labels and red sprinkled edges (a bright VG set). Pp. [v] + 283 + [3] + 295 + [4] blank [&] [vi] + [3] + 237 + [2] blank [&] [v] + 312 + [4] + 379 + [4] blank, with half titles, illus with woodcuts on titles (previous owner's neat inscription in contemporary hand on front prelim of each of vol).
Synopsis
Twenty Years After is a novel by Alexandre Dumas, père. This sequel to The Three Musketeers and a book of the so-called D'Artagnan Romances (the third and last book being The Vicomte de Bragelonne, including the famous volume, Man in the Iron Mask) was serialized from January to August, 1845.
