The Velveteen Rabbit by Williams, Margery - 1922: The First Issue of the very scarce children's classic

The First UK printing published by Heinemann, London in 1922. The BOOK now presents in near Fine condition having undergone some expert professional restoration from one of the leading UK book restorers. The original cover boards have been built up only at the extreme edges where damaged, with a very small amount of re-touching to the artwork on the original cover boards where the paper surface had been scuffed and rubbed. The spine (which is invariably found absent or damaged) has been replaced to the original design and incorporated into the original binding. The contents are clean with just a hint of toning to the page edges and text-block. Striking rabbit design for the end papers by William Nicholson. The book now presents as a very attractive example of the children's classic title and is protected in a loose Mylar archival cover. The very scarce UK first issue with the original full page illustrations by (Sir) William Nicholson. At the time of listing, I can see no other copies available on the open market for sale.
