Los Angeles: Alert Duplicating Service, 1964. First Edition. Wraps. Signed by Ray Bradbury on the front cover, below his printed name.
A one-act playscript adapted by Ray Bradbury (1920-2012) from his short story of the same name. It follows two parents in a unspecified future who worry as a mechanically advanced house begins to take their role as parents and their children begin to shape the virtual reality in their room for their own desires. First published in the September 23, 1950 issue of The Saturday Evening Post, The Veldt was featured in The Illustrated Man (1951) as the opening story of the collection.
This was one of the three plays staged by Bradbury in his first major theatrical venture, The World of Ray Bradbury, which debuted in Los Angeles on October 14, 1964, and ran for 20 weeks.
Quarto: [1], 35 leaves. Printed on pale green stock and bound with brads in tan cardstock wrappers. Apparently incomplete, lacking the final leaf or leaves and the rear wrapper. Some mild toning along the extremities of the front panel. OCLC locates no holdings.
