About This Item
London, United Kingdom: John Dicks Hardcover in plain dark red covers (spine faded, including any and all lettering), undated (other than "Before the Curtain" dated 1848), 328 pages including "numerous illustrations"---this is a cheap reprint by Dicks, known for his popular, affordably priced fiction and drama, and printed probably between 1850-1885; this is the only Dicks issue currently for sale online as of this date (October, 2019);--light rubbing and shelf wear to covers, but very gently used, tight in binding, possibly rebound as the white endpapers are of better quality than the cheap age darkened text pages, strange combinations of numerals and what appear to be shorthand symbols written in pencil over all of the first blank page, margins of the title page, and a few scattered margins throughout, one page noted with an amateurishly closed tear, scattered traces of pale foxing, but for the most part, all text pages are very clean and unmarked. . Hard Cover. Good.
Synopsis
Vanity Fair: A Novel without a Hero is William Thackeray's celebrated satirical novel of 19th century British society. Vanity Fair follows the rags-to-riches tale of the captivating and ruthless Becky Sharpe as she navigates her way through London society with fearsome determination and ambition.
