Description:
New York: The Jackson Press, 1916. First American edition of this translation. xiii, [1], 225 pp. 1 vols. 8vo. Original grey cloth showing a creature ripping open the chest of it's victim, in red and black, with the original brown dust jacket with the same illustration on the front and a listing of other books published by the Jackson on the back including several pro-German titles. First American edition of this translation. xiii, [1], 225 pp. 1 vols. 8vo. In Dust Jacket. A considerably abridged edition of this anti-British work citing circumstances of Britain's mis-use of power on European history, the translator/editor is very pro-Irish liberation. The Pan-Germanist journalist author was on the staff of the "Deutsche Tageszeitung" during the war and a strong advocate for von Tirpitz's policy concerning submarine warfare. He wrote several other political works.

Description:
New York: The Jackson Press, 1917. Hardcover. Near Fine/Near Fine. Second American edition. Translated by George Chatterton-Hill. Pictorial cloth. Light dampstain at the bottom of the text pages, thus about very good in very good pictorial dustwrapper with a corresponding stain, some small chips, and some very near professional reinforcement of the folds. Not about vampires at all, but a polemic attempting to demonstrate the insatiable greed of Great Britain for Empire. However, the striking illustration on both the front board and repeated on the dustwrapper, of a winging vampire sinking its claws into a nude woman, is among our favorites. We've never seen the book in jacket before.
