London: Macmillan and Co. Ltd, 1957. Reprint. Hardcover, Yellow Pictorial Boards, as new. Original, Very Good Condition/Slightly edge worn. Stuart Tresilian.
Enid Blyton (18971968), an English children's writer who also wrote under the pseudonym of Mary Pollock. She was one of the most successful children's storytellers of the 20th century. Her books have been among the world's best-sellers since the 1930s, selling more than 600 million copies. Blyton's books are still enormously popular, and have been translated into 90 languages. She wrote on a wide range of topics including education, natural history, fantasy, mystery, and biblical narratives and is best remembered today for her Noddy, Famous Five, Malory Towers and Secret Seven series.
Illustrated by Stuart Tresilian. Cecil Stuart Hazell Tresilian(1891-1974) was a British artist and illustrator, best known for his illustrations of children's books, including Rudyard Kipling's Animal Stories and All the Mowgli Stories, and Enid Blyton's Adventure Series.
This book was first published in 1947. This is the third volume of the Adventure series, and once again we meet the characters we know so well Jack and Lucy-Ann, Philip, Dinah, and Bill Smugs, always a ready help in time of trouble; and, of course Kiki, the parrot, who, with her ridiculous chatter, is an essential part of the story.
This time the children literally drop from the skies into a strange and thrilling adventure. A lonely and deserted valley half - ruined housestowering mountainscaves and underground passagestreasure! But what treasure? and where is it hidden? Who is after it? This is the riddle the children set themselves to solve, and in the solving they have many hair-raising adventures, and narrow escapes.
The name of Enid Blyton on any book is a sure passport to hours of real happiness for any child. This is one of her best stories, full of excitement and mystery.
The other books in Enid Blytons popular Adventure series are The Island, The Castle, The Sea, The Mountain, The Ship, and The Circus of Adventure.
341pp. Small inscription on front endpaper otherwise unmarked and clean throughout, appears unread.
