Bound handsomely in gray cloth, with title blind-stamped and with black lettering to spine. Bright and shiny dust jacket, illustrated, showing only very minor wear beyond sunning to spine, rear panel, and edges of front panel, protected by a plastic coat, dust jacket not being price-clipped. Published in First Edition state by the University of California Press, Berkeley, 1978, and with over 100 black-and-white photographs. xiii, [3], 364 pp. The noted art historian provides multiple views on photography, with several dozen short essays. Foreword by Thomas F. Barrow, then an editors' introduction by Lawton and Knox.
