Philadelphia, PA: J. B. Lippincott Company. Very Good+ in Very Good+ dust jacket. 1963. 1st Edition; 1st Printing. Hardcover. This book is in Very Good+ condition and has a Very Good+ to Near Fine- dust jacket. The book and its contents are in mostly clean, bright condition. There is some light fading to the edges of the book covers at the top edge, and along the bottom spine end. The bottom edge of the front panel has some beginning glue residue from a previous dust jacket protector. The text pages are clean and bright. The dust jacket has some beginning edge tears and nicks, some beginning wrinkling to the top front panel and top rear panel. There is only a hint of fading to the spine of the dust jacket. This is a First Edition, First State dust jacket with no reviews on real panel and a $5.95 price on the bottom corner of the front flap. This book was the winner of the Faulkner Foundation Award for best first novel of the year. "This will almost certainly be the most original novel published in 1963. It is a wild, macabre tale of the twentieth century and of two men." "Hailing from Long Island, Pynchon served two years in the United States Navy and earned an English degree from Cornell University. After publishing several short stories in the late 1950s and early 1960s, he began composing the novels for which he is best known: V. (1963) , The Crying of Lot 49 (1966) , Gravity's Rainbow (1973) , and Mason & Dixon (1997). Pynchon is also notoriously reclusive; very few photographs of him have ever been published, and rumors about his location and identity have circulated since the 1960s." .

London: Cassell & Company, 1935. First Edition. First edition of Lawrence Durrell's first novel. Highly autobiographical in character, an apprentice effort, Durrell's novel sank largely without trace. And as with so many unsold titles, the majority of copies were destroyed during the Blitz. Blue boards with the barest hint of rubbing to edges; no dustjacket, spine incorrectly lettered Pied Pipers of Lovers, bookseller's price on front free endpaper, slight spotting to fore and top-edges, otherwise a clean, solid, well-preserved copy of Lawrence's exceedingly scarce first novel.

London: Martin Secker, First edition 1916.. Hardcover. Very Good/Very Good. 324 pages. Original maroon cloth in good tight clean condition, lettered and ruled in black Top edge slightly dusty Front pastedown with two neat owners' signatures. Endpapers slightly browned. Dustjacket, unclipped, with only minor wear and rubbing to edges. The spine slightly browned. Despite these minor blemishes the volume presents very well. Important first novel by Welsh author Herbert Millingchamp Vaughan, 1870-1948. A rare dystopian science fiction work in which a vellum scroll is found in a metal cylinder in the Andes. This relates the dystopian history of the miniature planet Meleager, where the practice of eugenics ensures the death of defective children and where women have no power or political rights A rare book with a possible influence on Charlotte Haldane's Man's World and feminist dystopian literature generally, especially in the areas of eugenics and male patriarchy

New York, Grove Press, 2022, trade paperback, 272 pp, Advance Uncorrected Proof (ARC), New. Straight, tight and clean with no wear or markings in bright, pictorial card covers, no dustjacket as issued. The pieces in this collection, written between 1956 and 1961 and including short fiction, a radio play, and a stunning early novel, offer startling insights into Cohens imagination and creative process. Cohen explores themes that would permeate his later work, from shame and unworthiness to sexual desire in all its sacred and profane dimensions to longing, whether for love, family, freedom, or transcendence.
