Chicago: Sojourner Truth Organization, 1977. Paperback. Very Good. The second issue of the main magazine published by Chicago's Sojourner Truth Organization, "devoted to analysis and commentary on issues facing the development of revolutionary theory, practice and organization in the U.S." 54pp.; 21cm x 28cm; staple-bound in printed textured card-stock wraps. Bind remains tight and sturdy; text is very good throughout; very minor edgewear to wraps, light age-toning. The Sojourner Truth Organization, according to historian Michael Staudenmaier, was an American "revolutionary group based largely in Chicago during the 1970's and 1980's. STO, as it is commonly known, created a small but vibrant political tendency around the concepts of challenging dual consciousness, opposing white supremacy, supporting extra-union organizing in factory settings, defending anti-imperialist and national liberation struggles, and building an internal culture of intellectual rigor and sophistication." This issue includes articles by Jasper Collins, Carole Travis, Kassahun Checole, Don Hamerquist, Elaine Zeskind, Noel Ignatin, and others. From a private collection (NOT ex-library). Ships from Dinkytown in Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Description:
Chicago: Sojourner Truth Organization, 1976. First published in 1971, Towards a Revolutionary Party was STO's critique of party-building and the role of the party in building a revolutionary movement. This 1976 edition includes an introduction, in which the group offers a critique of its original critique while defending much of its original thesis. The Sojourner Truth Organization was founded in 1969 out of the RYMII SDS faction. They were based in Chicago during the 1970's and 1980's where they created a "small but vibrant political tendency around the concepts of challenging dual consciousness, opposing white supremacy, supporting extra-union organizing in factory settings, defending anti-imperialist and national liberation struggles, and building an internal culture of intellectual rigor and sophistication" (Staudenmaier, STO: Notes Toward a History. Stapled wrappers (8 ½" x 5 ½"), 44 p. ‘Wilcox Collection' stamp to the top corner of the front wrapper; some faint offsetting to the rear… Read More
