A fascinating book written to show that the South had been oppressed from the first, Jefferson Davis was a true patriot. John Wilkes Booth did not die as the Federal Officers surrounded the bar, but lived to a ripe old age. While those who take this book seriously will probably be addicts to Fox News, it does show how the lies many Southerners grew up with in the post-Civil War era became ingrained. A large part of the book is not only racist but suggest that the Negro is so filthy, his race will die out though they would have survived under the kind slaveowners who allowed them food and shelter and no pressure to accomplish anything. While there is much laughable, it should cause the thoughtful person to cringe as his vitriol seems to grow as the book nears his final conclusions. A near fine copy bound in green cloth lettered in gilt, spine plain, no names or bookplates, just a bit of rubbing to gilt. A very nice copy.
