As was his practice, Hefner marked relevant pages with paperclips and underlined pertinent passages, including one in which Flynt confessed, "I liked Hefner and still consider him a friend." This statement is at odds with their public rivalry, which included reports in 2016 that Flynt was considering a bid to purchase and rename Hefner's Playboy Mansion.
