About This Item
Marseille: the union, 1945. Pamphlet. Periodical: 8p. each, newsprint, 11x8.5 inch pastebound fascicles. Mild edgewear, corner-tip dog-ears, quite toned of course and begun to be fragile but so far so good; well-preserved copies, the three as a small lot. /// From cataloging of bookseller Marc Selvaggio with permission: "Three original issues .. rare newsletter of information and opinion, from the major Spanish labor organization, here publishing from Marseille while in exile. The front page editorial of the May issue declares that the War in Europe had come to end..but Spain is still enslaved and at war. Many articles concern the 1936-38 period as well as the continued strugggle. At this time, the U.G.T. worked closely with its French counterpart, the C.G.T., from which it received much support. BNF notes the publication began under a different title, as a clandestine paper, but changed on Oct. 15 1944 to 'U.G.T. Boletin Interior del Grupo Departamental.' It is not clear if this 'Unidad Sindical' is a continuation of that work, or a new periodical.. [he] suspects a new one, since issue no. 1 would have been Dec. 1944. Biblioteca Universitat de Barcelona lists the works [holdings not elaborated] with the note, 'descripcio basada en: no.4 (25 dic.1944'.
