Slightly worn corners to cloth. Light blue cloth with gilt lettering. I cannot claim sufficient authority to write a literary introduction to The Unfortunate Traveller. I am unable to assess its calue as literature, nor can I judge its particular effect upon subsequent prose fiction. Certain eminent critics, notably the late Edmund Gosse and that bitter versifier and vastly erudite litterateur the late Sir Walter Raleigh II thought highly of Nashe and particularly of The Unfortunate Traveller. On the other hand, Professor Saintsbury did not. Nashe was a hack by profession, an Elizabethan journalist, whom professor Saintsbury compares to 'one of the not quite best class of 'newspaper men' - Thackeray's Bohemians'.
