[Octon, France: Verdigris press, 2008. One of 40 copies, from a total issue of 50, all on Hahnemuhle paper, each signed and numbered in pencil by the artist, Judith Rothchild, and initialed by the author on the colophon. Page size: 11-3/4 x 7-3/4 inches; 14pp. Bound by Mark Lintott: leporello style, yellow paper over boards with deep blue paper covering most of the board showing only yellow band, title printed letterpress in black on front panel, housed in publisher's black slipcase with title printed in black on blue paper where slipcase opens. Mark Lintott has set the text in Vendome romain and printed it on an Albion press.
The text of Frederic JacquesTemple is a collection of childhood memories of the Aveyron, which is a Department in the south of France as well as the name of a river in the Department. The exquisite images, 11 intaglio prints that are a mix of mezzotint and dry point techniques, created by Judith Rothchild focus on the river and the natural beauty of the riverbanks, falls, pools. The shaped text follows and surrounds the curves of the river - and points the way to the next view, each of which is a study in light and dark, using the medium of water for reflection and magnification. The natural world is lovingly described both verbally and visually making this book a stunning homage.

Title tipped on cover. Signed and numbered by the artist. By using the top blue loop (one of the ribbon tie closures), the book can be hung vertically for a cascading display. Clematis continues Goodale's Threatened and Endangered series in a broad sense. Clematis has been classified as a rare plant by the state of Maine. Their first two classifications for plants are those that are imperiled, which are the plants that Goodale usually includes in her series. The rare classification indicates the lack of sightings in Maine (20-100 occurrences). Rebecca Goodale: "My newest book is a tall, cascading book representing the genus Clematis. I drew from two plants, one was Maine's rare Clematis occidentalis. The other was Clematis alpina, which I drew while visiting… Read More

Austin: Texas Writers Project, 2000. Original . Broadside. FINE. 24 x 36 inches, printed on high quality coated stock with metalic ink. Shipped- rolled in heavy tube. This fabulous poster was created especially for the featured author of Texas Writers Month in 2000 held in Austin, Texas by graphic designer Marc English. It is printed on heavy high quality coated stock in metalic inks: silver and bronze and laid over a duotone photograph of the rugged Big Bend country of West Texas. The poster quotes a long scene from McCarthy's BLOOD MERIDIAN with drops of bronze red blood for emphasis. This is a stunning visual and carries the impact of the original text depicting a scene of horror as the savages line up on horseback along the ridge their glass beads and painted bodies caught forever in the sun's hot glare as they anticipate the massacre that would follow. Only McCarthy could make this scene so vivid you might have to put the book down and never finish it.
