Green papered boards with quarter cloth backing and paper spine label. Light wear to corners, with boards just peeking through the paper. One small abrasion to front panel. Spine shows dulling/darkening, though spine label remains complete and legible. Curiously, the title page has been professionally tipped onto the stub of a removed leaf, perhaps marking this as a later state of the first edition. Portrait subjects include Joseph Conrad, John Galsworthy, Andre Gide, Thomas Hardy, and H.G. Wells.
