Charming antique copy of "Twas the Night Before Christmas" - A Visit From St. Nicholas by Clement C. Moore. 1912; Houghton Mifflin Company; Boston and New York. The book features wonderful color illustrations on every page by JESSIE WILLCOX SMITH. Illustrated end papers in color. Hardcover.
Condition:
Some shelf wear along the board edges; worn corners; tiny cloth tear at the bottom edge of the spine. Tight binding with no cracks and no loose pages. Occasional foxing (heaviest on the end papers and title page) and a couple light stains found; 2 pages have small tears at the outer edge; the first 6 pages have a tiny piece missing at the lower-outer corner; inscription in pen dated 1915 on front end paper...no other writing found. A 1948 article titled "Christmas Traditions Or How It All Began" has been taped to the page opposite the title page - the tape has browned and left an outline on the title page (see photo).
