About This Item
Lawrence Durrell (1912-1990) was a critically hailed and beloved novelist, poet, humorist, and travel writer best known for The Alexandria Quartet novels (1962), which were ranked by the Modern Library as among the greatest works of English literature in the twentieth century.
In 1968, he wrote Tunc. In 1970, he followed up with Nunquam and in 1974, they were released together as The Revolt of Aphrodite.
Tunc tells of a young inventor, Felix Charlock, who invents something that seems like a spy bug but also involves storing data in a computer and analysing it, all with a slight science fiction touch. He is seduced by a mysterious and powerful company, called Merlin, to work for them. The seduction takes the form of lots of money and Benedicta, daughter of the founder of the company, with said founder now – maybe – dead.
This is a first printing of the first edition of Tunc.
There is the tiniest bit of shelf-wear on the top of the dust jacket.
The original owner wrote his or her name on the front endpaper (very small) but it appears to be un-read.
It is absolutely pristine, without a single mark inside or out.
