Coloured frontispiece, tipped in,showing a poster for the Aborigines in Van Dieman's Land re justice for all. Throughout the text there are black and white line illustrations and decorations. Tan coloured cloth covered boards with gilt titles and illustration to the front panel and gilt coloured titles to the backstrip. Illustrated dustwrapper with gold and black coloured titles to the front panel and black coloured titles to the backstrip. From 1785 through to 1855, Broadsides [pieces of paper printed on one side only] were the only means of distributing news during our early colonial period. "Broadsides collected by Geoffrey Ingleton put this fascinating book include tales of their adventures written by marooned seamen, accounts of murders and executions, verses such as "The Convict's Tour to Hell" and "The London Convict Maid", descriptions of remarkable events and phenomena, proclamations and government notices." -- from the front fold over panel blurb.
