ON: The Women's Assisting Board for RESTALL CAMP, Hamilton Ontario, NO DATE (circa 1935 ), 1st Edition, First Printing, 1935. -----------( 1st printing of the First Edition ) softcover, a FAIR example only, offered as a filler copy for the collector, much wear and tear to covers, taped repairs on front panel, copious pencil notes and additional recipes throughout, 64 pages, lots of local advertisements, slight musty odour, really quite rare, this is CULINARY ANDMARKS by Elizabeth Driver ( page 878, # 01108:1 ), Driver assigns a post 1945 date to this cookbook but I believe it is closer to 1935, on page 16 there is an ad for Bryans-Currie Optometrists who took over from I B ROUSE in 1933, the accompanying photo of a bespectacled fashioable women looks very much like a 1930's woman based on the hair style, and the bit of dress in the photo, as well there is an illustration on the verso of the front cover showing a woman with a distinctly 1930's haircut, ---on page 20 is an advert for Blachford & Wray claiming almost 100 years of being in business, B&W started their funeral services in 1843 so if this was post 1944 that ad would state OVER 100 Years of service, and B&W were in business pre-1843 as a carpentry operation so again most likely apre-a940 publication date, AND finally there is an ad on page 24 for HAMILTON MOTOR PRODUCTS advertising McLaughlin Buick automobiles, McL-B ceased production in 1942 ---AND FINALLY FINALLY if this was 1940's and certainly circa 1945 there would be an advertisement of some sort mentioning WWI or soldiers or "our servicemen" or Army or navy etc, there is no mention of anything related to WWII at all so VERY LIKELY pre-1939 at the very least, any image directly beside this listing is the actual book and not a generic photo ///NOT SIGNED ---GUARANTEED to be AVAILABLE///---sizes are approximate (generally within 1/8 inch)---.
